Dr. Yankai Sun graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and double minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. He received his Medical Degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Sun completed one year of internship in General Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC before finishing residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Westchester Medical Center of New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Before joining Peninsula Radiology Associates in 2019, Dr. Sun was a Neuroradiology fellow at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Dr. Sun has specialty interest in neuroimaging, which includes CT and MRI studies of head, neck and spine as well as vascular imaging of the head and neck.

Dr. Sun is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and currently holds medical license to practice in Virginia. He is also a member of multiple societies including American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), American College of Radiology (ACR) and Radiological Society of North American (RSNA). Dr. Sun has attended and presented at numerous national and international meetings and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and over 25 scientific abstracts. Dr. Sun was a recipient of RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award in 2018.

In his spare time, Dr. Sun enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and children.
