Overview

Peninsula Radiological Associates is committed to providing the highest level of breast imaging. We recognize the unique health care concerns of women, and we offer specialized diagnostic services in a professional and compassionate environment.

Riverside Diagnostic Center in Oyster Point was the first facility on the Peninsula to be awarded the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation by the American College of Radiology. We are proud to be the first group of approximately 150 facilities nation wide and one of 4 facilities in the State of Virginia to receive this award at our inception in 1977.

Our board-certified and fellowship trained breast imaging radiologists are not only highly experienced, but also skillful with handling the needs of their patients. It is always our goal to make the patients’ experience comfortable, and to reduce any anxieties that may be present. In addition, our team of outstanding trained and certified technologist is knowledgeable and dedicated to our patient’s needs. We take an individualized approach to women’s care, and work closely with our patients and their referring physicians.

Services and Procedures

Peninsula Radiological Associates uses state-of-the-art equipment to provide the following woman’s imaging services and procedures:

  • Digital Mammography
  • Bone Densitometry
  • Ultrasound
  • Embolization
  • Image Guided Biopsy – Breast
  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization
  • Breast MRI
  • Breast Specific Gamma Imaging

In addition to these services, Peninsula Radiological Associates is certified by the American Board of Radiology as a Breast MRI and Breast MRI guided biopsy facility. We specialize in Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI), and offer both Stereotactic Guided Breast Biopsy and Ultrasound Guided Breast Biopsy.

We encourage and recommend women to schedule yearly screening mammography beginning at the age of 40. Many prominent national organizations endorse this message, including: the American Cancer Society, American College of OB/GYN, American College of Radiology, American Society of Breast Disease, American College of Surgeons and the Society for Breast Imaging.
